Mozambique emerged victorious over Benin and secured a place in CAN-2024

With a score of 3-2, the National Football Team emerged victorious over the Benin team, at the Zimpeto National Stadium. The victory also guaranteed qualification for the CAN tournament.

With the triumph, the Mambas secured second place in Group “L” with a total of 10 points. This specific group is led by the current African title holder, Senegal. The Benin and Rwanda teams also fell behind in this group.

Witi, Ricardo Guimarães and Clésio were the players responsible for scoring Mozambique's goals.

The Zimpeto National Stadium was packed and the fans supported the team led by Chiquinho Conde. Under his leadership, the team successfully qualified for the CAN finals after an absence of just over ten years.

Filipe Nyusi, President of the Republic, was present at ENZ to provide support to the Mambas. After the match, he joined the team in the locker room to congratulate them on their success in qualifying for CAN.

For the first time in history, the African Football Championship of Nations (CAN) will feature five Portuguese-speaking teams: Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique and Equatorial Guinea.
