Beira: Doctors say they are overwhelmed

Doctors who do not join the strike say they are working overloaded at the Beira Central Hospital (HCB), as revealed by the clinical director of that health unit, Ana Tambo.

The source also explained that patient care is being carried out at half speed but all patients are cared for. Emergency services are provided daily by a team of three doctors and external consultations and elective surgeries are taking place. There is an increase in the number of patients waiting for care, especially in the operating room.

“The doctors who are working redouble their efforts and there is naturally an overload. The waiting time has increased but we are here to ensure that all users are served with dignity”, said Ana Tambo.

He added that each care unit has around 15 health professionals and the work scheme allows all hospital services to always have staff for the services.
