The president of the National Elections Commission (CNE) of Mozambique, Dom Carlos Matsinhe, announced today, in Maputo, that all logistical conditions are in place to hold the sixth local elections in the country, scheduled for October 11th.
The main concern involves the distribution of voting material in all 65 municipalities spread across Mozambique. The Bishop of the Anglican Church, who also leads the CNE, made these statements during an event in the capital, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the signing of the General Peace Agreements.
Dom Carlos Matsinhe emphasized that security is guaranteed throughout the country, especially in areas with a history of electoral controversies and which have already suffered terrorist attacks. He assured that “in the municipal districts there are security conditions for this purpose, everything is taken care of so that there are peaceful elections”.
The electoral material necessary for Mozambique's sixth municipal election was produced in South Africa and China, including voting booths, ballot papers and notices for the partial counting of results.
