During the initial phase of the 2023/24 rainy season, which runs from October to December, the National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) forecasts typical levels of precipitation with below-average trends expected in the southern and central areas of Mozambique.
On the other hand, INAM technician, Bernardino Nhantumbo, predicts normal rainfall for the northern region during the 2023/2024 Seasonal Climate Forecast. For the second half of the rainy season, which runs from January to March 2024, there is a high possibility of below-average rainfall across the southern region of Mozambique.
However, for the Central region, particularly the provinces of Manica and Sofala, typical precipitation levels with a tendency to below normal are expected.
