INSS makes payments to more than 2,500 pensioners

According to AIM, the National Social Security Institute (INSS) makes payments to a total of 2,542 thousand beneficiaries. Of these, approximately 45,800 are Self-Employed Workers (TCP), while approximately 169 thousand are active contributors.

The INSS, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MITSS), also provides assistance to approximately 121 thousand pensioners of various categories, including those who receive pensions for old age, disability and survivors.

According to a press release issued by MTSS and released by AIM, the system is constantly evolving towards its maturity and financial sustainability. Its mission is to manage mandatory social security regimes and ensure the recognition of rights and compliance with corresponding obligations.

This announcement coincides with the celebration of the 34th anniversary of the creation of the Social Security System in Mozambique, which took place this Monday (18).

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Margarida Talapa, highlighted the maturity of the Social Security System as an opportunity to plan and develop social security in the present and in the future. Over the 34 years of the system's existence, notable progress has been achieved, including greater inclusion of workers, especially TCP workers.

Other significant advances mentioned include the expansion of geographic coverage to more districts of the country and the modernization and computerization of services, which allowed a faster response to user requests.

The statement also expresses the recognition of the Government of Mozambique to taxpayers, beneficiaries, pensioners and social partners for their fundamental role in the development of the social security system in the country.

The Mandatory Social Security System, managed by the INSS, aims to guarantee the support of workers in situations of illness, maternity, disability and old age, as well as the support of surviving family members in the event of the death of workers or pensioners.
