The 1st Police Station of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Maputo detained a mother and her daughter. They were accused of faking their own abductions and engaging in corrupt activities. They were kept in the police station cells.
The accused purposely invented a kidnapping scenario to obtain a police document that would explain his daughter's three-day absence from work.
The mother blames “malevolent entities” for her actions, stating that her intention was to protect her daughter's job and prevent her from being fired for absenteeism at a resort hotel in Maputo.
The daughter's justification for her behavior is rooted in her depression, as she tries to justify her actions.
According to Leonel Muchina, PRM spokesperson based in Maputo, the accused individuals had visited the police subunit to report their own abductions.
