This Thursday, the Government of Morocco activated a direct aid plan for people affected by the earthquake that shook the country last week, with payments of up to 140,000 dirhams (12,800 euros) to fully or partially rehabilitate 50,000 damaged homes.
In a statement released by the state agency MAP, and cited by Lusa, the Royal Palace informs that this plan, open to contributions from “brother countries or friends”, was activated during a work meeting chaired today by King Mohamed VI, in which it was presented by an inter-ministerial commission the first version of the resettlement program for those affected.
This plan concerns approximately 50,000 completely or partially collapsed houses in the five provinces hit by the earthquake, which mainly affected many cities and villages in the Moroccan High Atlas.
