Companies from six countries signed contracts and memoranda of understanding with around 20 companies operating in the province of Manica, located in central Mozambique. These international companies have shown interest in establishing partnerships with companies operating in different sectors, with an emphasis on agriculture, mining, forestry, animal production and industry.
The contracts and memoranda of understanding were formalized during the 58th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), held in the district of Marracuene, in the province of Maputo, in southern Mozambique, at the end of August. The provincial director of Industry and Commerce of Manica, Maria de Assunção Fernandes, revealed this information during the XV ordinary session of the Provincial Executive Council.
Maria Fernandes confirmed that companies interested in collaborating with companies in Manica come from the republics of China, Angola, South Africa, Germany, Cuba and Malawi. She highlighted that these companies are seeking partnerships in the areas of sweet potato processing, corn flour production, forestry, mineral resources and agriculture. Some of these contracts are already in advanced stages of negotiation.
She mentioned some examples of ongoing partnerships, such as the Chimanimani National Park's involvement in forest restoration and environmental conservation, as well as the company Água Vumba which plans to export water to Angola. The company Frutos de Révuè is also preparing to export dried fruits to countries in Europe and Asia.
Maria Fernandes informed that the contracts are in the final phase of completion and will come into force next November. She emphasized that these agreements have the potential to boost the economy of the province of Manica, contributing to an increase in exports. Manica's participation in FACIM was highlighted, with the province displaying a wide range of agricultural products, handicrafts, minerals, forestry products, as well as cultural aspects and typical gastronomy of the region.
Manica won third place in the category of best province with the most processed and packaged products during the event. Furthermore, the XV ordinary session of the Provincial Executive Council of Manica addressed various aspects related to the social, economic and political situation of the province.
