Quality Control Seal becomes mandatory for food products including water

The Quality Control Seal will become mandatory for food products in Mozambique, starting with water. The National Quality Council announced this measure on Tuesday, September 12th.

According to Notícias, the implementation of this measure is estimated to cost 1.9 billion dollars and the action plan will be implemented over ten years, from 2023 to 2033. Bottled water will be one of the first products to be covered by this obligation.

“Currently, water certification is voluntary. A study is underway to evaluate the quality of the liquid we consume”, stated Geraldo Albazine, General Director of the National Institute of Standardization and Quality (INNOQ). The study is expected to be completed later this year, and water certification will become mandatory after a regulation is drawn up.
