The Morocco-Liberia game, from Group K qualifying for the African Cup of Nations (CAN), scheduled for today in Agadir, was postponed due to the earthquake that hit the country, announced the Moroccan football federation.
“Following the earthquake that affected some regions of the country, we announced the postponement of the game between Morocco and Liberia, the last round to qualify for the CAN, informed the Moroccan football federation, indicating that the decision was taken in conjunction with the Confederation African Football Association (CAF).
Morocco, already qualified for the final phase of CAN2023, to be played at the beginning of 2024, in Côte d'Ivoire, remains in second place in the group, reduced to three teams, with six points, one less than leader South Africa, and five more than Liberia.
In the same note, cited by Lusa, the federation “expresses its condolences to the families of the victims, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured”.
