A heartbreaking incident occurred in Manica which resulted in the loss of twenty lives. A road accident in Catandica was the cause of this tragedy.
On the way from Chimoio to the district of Guro, a semi-collective transport vehicle suffered an accident. The vehicle collided head-on with a truck traveling in the opposite direction.
Of the 21 individuals who were on board the “chapa”, 20 of them died immediately, while the remaining two were seriously injured. One of the two injured was identified as the driver of the truck.
According to Miramar's findings, it can be inferred that the transport was carried out semi-collectively and at an accelerated pace. However, the root of the accident was attributed to a combination of excessive speed and reduced visibility caused by the raging fires.
The means of transport involved in the accident was semi-collective and suffered total destruction.
Following the incident, those who sustained injuries were transported to a nearby medical facility known as Catandica District Hospital.
This is a developing situation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
