In the district of Derre, located in the province of Zambézia, a police officer serving in the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) was tragically shot dead.
During the pursuit of four suspects accused of trying to steal money from a merchant in the Morrumbala district, an incident occurred in Derissa.
According to Sidner Lonzo, PRM spokesperson in Zambézia, the information was verified. Lonzo clarified that the group targeted the merchant's residence in Morrumbala with the intention of stealing profits from the sale of his agricultural surpluses.
Londzo reported that the robbery was avoided due to the involvement of individuals who were present at the scene.
After the incident, police authorities began a pursuit of the people involved who were allegedly carrying an AKM. During the exchange of gunfire that followed, one of the alleged criminals fired a bullet that hit the police officer.
